I am writing to invite you to the Annual Washington DC Conference of our Association, EAUC, March 4-6, 2018. As in recent years we will again be meeting at the
Association of Public and Land Grant universities (APLU). This is the Washington Conference that provides an opportunity for you to not only network with colleagues engaged in the higher education economic development arena but also to meet and hear from leaders from key government agencies that directly impact our work. Representatives from the Departments of Labor, Defense, USDA, and Commerce including NIST, EDA, NSF, historically participate in this conference.
The EAUC not only represents universities and colleges with EDA University Center Programs, but also the many institutions of higher learning that support and conduct a wide range of critical economic and community development initiatives, technology transfer and commercialization programs, NIST MEP Centers, Trade Adjustment Centers, SBA and USDA programs and other forms of Federal, State, and regional programs that are critical to local, regional and state economies.
It is always important, now more than ever, that the vital contributions the higher education infrastructure makes, and the positive impacts on economic development and job creation in our Nation be recognized, represented, and highly regarded on Capitol Hill, in Federal Agencies and in the White House. This is the reason we hold our Annual Meeting in the shadow of the Capitol, to learn from House, Senate, and Federal Agency leaders about priorities, pending issues and to convey the valuable contributions we all make to the Nation in our daily work.
I look forward to seeing you in DC and joining with you to bring a message about the ideas, and greater visibility to the tremendous positive impact of the knowledge and innovation that is created in our colleges and universities year after year.
