November 2019 EAUC/EDA University Center Webinar
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, the Educational Association of University Centers and the US Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, will be to provide an update on the EDA University Center program, an update on the Educational Association of University Centers, and spotlight the Regional Innovation Strategies (RIS) program at EDA.
Craig Buerstatte is a former Army Officer turned entrepreneur, who earned the Bronze Star Medal for his creative leadership in remote areas of Iraq, and later leveraged those skills to found a technology startup and work in the venture capital, helping others build teams and products of impact. Today, Craig brings those skills back to public service as the Director for the Department of Commerce’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE). Housed within the U.S. Economic Development Administration, OIE works to foster a more innovative economy through policy initiatives and grant programs that focus on turning new ideas and inventions into businesses that create jobs, competitiveness, and economic growth.
Emily Miller serves as a Policy Advisor in the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Department of Commerce, responsible for leading access to capital and strategic initiatives. Emily is an entrepreneur and leader with global business experience and a passion for inclusive entrepreneurship and innovation at scale. Previously, Emily served as a Captain in the U.S. Army on one deployment to Iraq and two deployments to Afghanistan, serving with U.S. Special Operations teams.
